2 Chronicles 17

1And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, Josaphat strengthened himself against Israel.Καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ἰωσαφὰτ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατίσχυσεν Ἰωσαφὰτ ἐπὶ τὸν Ἰσραήλ.

2And he put garrisons in all the strong cities of Juda, and appointed captains in all the cities of Juda, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.Καὶ ἔδωκε δύναμιν ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν Ἰούδα ταῖς ὀχυραῖς, καὶ κατέστησεν ἡγουμένους ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐν πόλεσιν Ἐφραὶμ, ἃς προκατελάβετο Ἀσὰ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ.

3And the Lord was with Josaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father, and did not seek to idols;Καὶ ἐγένετο Κύριος μετὰ Ἰωσαφὰτ, ὅτι ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδοῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ταῖς πρώταις, καὶ οὐκ ἐξεζήτησε τὰ εἴδωλα,

4but he sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in the commandments of his father, and not according to the works of Israel.ἀλλὰ Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐξεζήτησε, καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθη, καὶ οὐχ ὡς τὰ ἔργα τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.

5And the Lord prospered the kingdom in his hand; and all Juda gave gifts to Josaphat; and he had great wealth and glory.Καὶ κατεύθυνε Κύριος τὴν βασιλείαν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔδωκε πᾶς Ἰούδα δῶρα τῷ Ἰωσαφὰτ, καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ πλοῦτος καὶ δόξα πολλή.

6And his heart was exalted in the way of the Lord; and he removed the high places and the groves from the land of Juda.Καὶ ὑψώθη ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐν ὁδῷ Κυρίου, καὶ ἐξῇρε τὰ ὑψηλὰ καὶ τὰ ἄλση ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς Ἰούδα.

7And in the third year of his reign, he sent his chief men, and his mighty men, Abdias and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Michaias, to teach in the cities of Juda.Καὶ ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ τρίτῳ ἔτει τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ ἀπέστειλε τοὺς ἡγουμένους αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν δυνατῶν, τὸν Ἀβδιὰν, καὶ Ζαχαρίαν, καὶ Ναθαναὴλ, καὶ Μιχαίαν, τοῦ διδάσκειν ἐν πόλεσιν Ἰούδα.

8And with them were the Levites, Samaias, and Nathanias, and Zabdias, and Asiel, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Tobadonias, Levites, and with them Elisama and Joram, the priests.Καὶ μετʼ αὐτῶν οἱ Λευῖται, Σαμαίας, καὶ Ναθανίας, καὶ Ζαβδίας, καὶ Ἀσιὴλ, καὶ Σεμιραμὼθ, καὶ Ἰωνάθαν, καὶ Ἀδωνίας, καὶ Τωβίας, καὶ Τωβαδωνίας, Λευῖται, καὶ οἱ μετʼ αὐτῶν Ἐλισαμὰ, καὶ Ἰωρὰμ, οἱ ἱερεῖς.

9And they taught in Juda, and there was with them the book of the law of the Lord, and they passed through the cities of Juda, and taught the people.Καὶ ἐδίδασκον ἐν Ἰούδα, καὶ μετʼ αὐτῶν βίβλος νόμου Κυρίου, καὶ διῆλθον ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐδίδασκον τὸν λαόν.

10And a terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land round about Juda, and they made no war against Josaphat.Καὶ ἐγένετο ἔκστασις Κυρίου ἐπὶ πάσαις ταῖς βασιλείαις τῆς γῆς κύκλῳ Ἰούδα, καὶ οὐκ ἐπολέμουν πρὸς Ἰωσαφάτ.

11And some of the Philistines brought to Josaphat gifts, and silver, and presents; and the Arabians brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams.Καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἔφερον τῷ Ἰωσαφὰτ δῶρα καὶ ἀργύριον καὶ δόματα· καὶ οἱ Ἀραβες ἔφερον αὐτῷ κριοὺς προβάτων ἑπτακισχιλίους ἑπτακοσίους.

12And Josaphat increased in greatness exceedingly, and built in Judea places of abode, and strong cities.Καὶ ἦν Ἰωσαφὰτ πορευόμενος μείζων ἕως εἰς ὕψος, καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ οἰκήσεις καὶ πόλεις ὀχυράς.

13And he had many works in Judea: and the mighty men of war, the men of strength, were in Jerusalem.Καὶ ἔργα πολλὰ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ· καὶ ἄνδρες πολεμισταὶ δυνατοὶ ἰσχύοντες ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ.

14And this is their number according to the houses of their fathers; even the captains of thousands in Juda were, Ednas the chief, and with him mighty men of strength three hundred thousand.Καὶ οὗτος ὁ ἀριθμὸς αὐτῶν κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν· καὶ τῷ Ἰούδα χιλίαρχοι, Ἔδνας ὁ ἄρχων, καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ υἱοὶ δυνατοὶ δυνάμεως τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες·

15And after him, Joanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.Καὶ μετʼ αὐτὸν, Ἰωανὰν ὁ ἡγούμενος, καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ διακόσιαι ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες·

16And after him Amasias the son of Zari, who was zealous for the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of strength.Καὶ μετʼ αὐτὸν Ἀμασίας ὁ τοῦ Ζαρὶ, ὁ προθυμούμενος τῷ κυρίῳ, καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ διακόσιαι χιλιάδες δυνατοὶ δυνάμεως.

17And out of Benjamin there was a mighty man of strength, even Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand archers and targeteers.Καὶ ἐκ τοῦ Βενιαμὶν δυνατὸς δυνάμεως καὶ Ἐλιαδὰ, καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ τοξόται καὶ πελτασταὶ διακόσιαι χιλιάδες·

18And after him Jozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand mighty men of war.Καὶ μετʼ αὐτὸν Ἰωζαβὰδ, καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες δυνατοὶ πολέμου.

19These were the king's servants besides those whom the king put in the strong cities in all Judea.Οὗτοι οἱ λειτουργοῦντες τῷ βασιλεῖ, ἐκτὸς ὧν ἔδωκεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐν ταῖς πόλεσι ταῖς ὀχυραῖς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ.
