Deuteronomy 31
And Moses finished speaking all these words to all the children of Israel;Καὶ συνετέλεσε Μωυσῆς λαλῶν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους πρὸς πάντας υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ,
and said to them, I am this day one hundred and twenty years old; I shall not be able any longer to come in or go out; and the Lord said to me, You shall not go over this Jordan.καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτοὺς, ἐκατὸν καὶ εἴκοσι ἐτῶν ἐγώ εἰμι σήμερον· οὐ δυνήσομαι ἔτι εἰσπορεύεσθαι καὶ ἐκπορεύεσθαι· Κύριος δὲ εἶπε πρὸς μὲ, οὐ διαβήσῃ τὸν Ιορδάνην τοῦτον.
The Lord your God who goes before you, he shall destroy these nations before you, and you shall inherit them: and it shall be Joshua that goes before your face, as the Lord has spoken.Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ὁ προπορευόμενος πρὸ προσώπου σου, οὗτος ἐξολοθρεύσει τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα ἀπὸ προσώπου σου, καὶ κατακληρονομήσεις αὐτούς· καὶ Ἰησοῦς ὁ προπορευόμενος πρὸ προσώπου σου, καθὰ ἐλάλησε Κύριος.
And the Lord your God shall do to them as he did to Seon and Og the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond Jordan, and to their land, as he destroyed them.Καὶ ποιήσει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου αὐτοῖς καθὼς ἐποίησε Σηὼν καὶ Ὢγ δυσὶ βασιλεῦσι τῶν Ἀμοῤῥαίων, οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν, καθότι ἐξωλόθρευσεν αὐτούς.
And the Lord has delivered * them to you; and you shall do to them, as I charged you.Καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς Κύριος ὑμῖν· καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτοῖς, καθότι ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν.
Be courageous and strong, fear not, neither be cowardly neither be afraid before them; for it is the Lord your God that advances with you in the midst of you, ✡ neither will he by any means forsake you, nor desert you.Ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε, μὴ φοβοῦ, μηδὲ δειλιάσῃς, μηδὲ πτοηθῇς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν· ὅτι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ὁ προπορευόμενος μεθʼ ὑμῶν ἐν ὑμῖν, οὔτε μή σε ἀνῇ, οὔτε μή σε ἐγκαταλίπῃ.
And Moses called Joshua, and said to him before all Israel, Be courageous and strong; for you shall go in before this people into the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them, and you shall give it to them for an inheritance.Καὶ ἐκάλεσε Μωυσῆς Ἰησοῦν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἔναντι παντὸς Ἰσραὴλ, ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε, σὺ γὰρ εἰσελεύσῃ πρὸ προσώπου τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσε Κύριος τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν δοῦναι αὐτοῖς, καὶ σὺ κατακληρονομήσεις αὐτοῖς.
And the Lord that goes with you shall not forsake you nor abandon you; fear not, neither be afraid.Καὶ Κύριος ὁ συμπορευόμενος μετὰ σοῦ, οὐκ ἀνήσει σε, οὐδὲ μὴ σε ἐγκαταλίπῃ· μή φοβοῦ, μηδὲ δειλία.
And Moses wrote the words of this law in a book, and gave it to the priests the sons of Levi who bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to the elders of the sons of Israel.Καὶ ἔγραψε Μωυσῆς τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ νόμου τούτου εἰς βιβλίον, καὶ ἔδωκε τοῖς ἱερεῦσι τοῖς υἱοῖς Λευὶ τοῖς αἴρουσι τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης Κυρίου, καὶ τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ.
And Moses charged them in that day, saying, After seven years, in the time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,Καὶ ἐνετείλατο Μωυσῆς αὐτοῖς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, λέγων, μετὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐν καιρῷ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἀφέσεως ἐν ἑορτῇ σκηνοπηγίας,
when all Israel come together to appear before the Lord your God, in the place which the Lord shall choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their ears,ἐν τῷ συμπορεύεσθαι πάντα Ἰσραὴλ ὀφθῆναι ἐνώπιον Κύριου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν, ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ᾧ ἂν ἐκλέξηται Κύριος, ἀναγνώσεσθε τὸν νόμον τοῦτον ἐναντίον παντὸς Ἰσραὴλ εἰς τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν,
having assembled the people, the men, and the women, and the children, and the stranger that is in your cities, that they may hear, and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God; and they shall listen to do all the words of this law.ἐκκλησιάσας τὸν λαὸν, τοὺς ἄνδρας καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ ἔκγονα καὶ τὸν προσήλυτον τὸν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν ὑμῶν, ἵνʼ ἀκούσωσι, καὶ ἵνα μάθωσι φοβεῖσθαι Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ὑμῶν· καὶ ἀκούσονται ποιεῖν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τοῦ νόμου τούτου.
And their sons who have not known shall hear, and shall learn to fear the Lord your God all the days that they live upon the land, into which you go over Jordan to inherit it.Καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν οἳ οὐκ οἴδασιν, ἀκούσονται, καὶ μαθήσονται φοβεῖσθαι Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ὅσας αὐτοὶ ζῶσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, εἰς ἣν ὑμεῖς διαβαίνετε τὸν Ἰορδάνην ἐκεῖ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτήν.
And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, the days of your death are at hand; call Joshua, and stand you by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony, and I will give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went to the tabernacle of testimony, and stood by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony.Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν, ἰδοὺ ἐγγίκασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ θανάτου σου· κάλεσον Ἰησοῦν, καὶ στῆτε παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἐντελοῦμαι αὐτῷ· καὶ ἐπορεύθη Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἔστησαν παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
And the Lord descended in a cloud, and stood by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony; and the pillar of the cloud stood by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony.Καὶ κατέβη Κύριος ἐν νεφέλῃ, καὶ ἔστη παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου· καὶ ἔστη ὁ στύλος τῆς νεφέλης παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers, and this people will arise and go a whoring after the strange gods of the land, into which they are entering: and they will forsake me, and break my covenant, which I made with them.Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν, ἰδοὺ σὺ κοιμᾷ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων σου, καὶ ἀναστὰς οὗτος ὁ λαὸς ἐκπορνεύσει ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων τῆς γῆς, εἰς ἣν οὗτος εἰσπορεύεται, καὶ καταλείψουσί με, καὶ διασκεδάσουσι τὴν διαθήκην μου, ἣν διεθέμην αὐτοῖς.
And I will be very angry with them in that day, and I will leave them and turn my face away from them, and they shall be devoured; and many evils and afflictions shall come upon them; and they shall say in that day, Because the Lord my God is not with me, these evils have come upon me.Καὶ ὀργισθήσομαι θυμῷ εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ καταλείψω αὐτοὺς, καὶ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔσται κατάβρωμα· καὶ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτὸν κακὰ πολλὰ καὶ θλίψεις· καὶ ἐρεῖ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, διότι οὐκ ἔστι Κύριος ὁ Θεός μου ἐν ἐμοὶ, εὕροσάν με τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα.
And I will surely turn away my face from them in that day, because of all their evil doings which they have done, because they turned aside after strange gods.Ἐγὼ δὲ ἀποστροφῇ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, διὰ πάσας τὰς κακίας ἃς ἐποίησαν, ὅτι ἀπέστρεψαν ἐπὶ θεοὺς ἀλλοτρίους.
And now write the words of this song, and teach it to the children of Israel, and you shall put it into their mouth, that this song may witness for me among the children of Israel to their face.Καὶ νῦν γράψατε τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ᾠδῆς ταύτης, καὶ διδάξατε αὐτὴν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ ἐμβαλεῖτε αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτῶν, ἵνα γένηταί μοι ἡ ᾠδὴ αὕτη κατὰ πρόσωπον μαρτυροῦσα ἐν υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ.
For I will bring them into the good land, which I swore to their fathers, to give to them a land flowing with milk and honey: and they shall eat and be filled and satisfy themselves; then will they turn aside after other gods, and serve them, and they will provoke me, and break my covenant.Εἰσάξω γὰρ αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθὴν, ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν, δοῦναι αὐτοῖς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι, καὶ φάγονται, καὶ ἐμπλησθέντες κορήσουσι, καὶ ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐπὶ θεοὺς ἀλλοτρίους, καὶ λατρεύσουσιν αὐτοῖς, καὶ παροξυνοῦσί με, καὶ διασκεδάσουσι τὴν διαθήκην μου.
And this song shall stand up to witness against them; for they shall not forget it out of their mouth, or out of the mouth of their seed; for I know their wickedness, what they are doing here this day, before I have brought them into the good land, which I swore to their fathers.Καὶ ἀντικαταστήσεται ἡ ᾠδὴ αὕτη κατὰ πρόσωπον μαρτυροῦσα· οὐ γὰρ μὴ ἐπιλησθῇ ἀπὸ στόματος αὐτῶν, καὶ ἀπὸ στόματος τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτῶν· ἐγὼ γὰρ οἶδα τὴν πονηρίαν αὐτῶν, ὅσα ποιοῦσιν ὧδε σήμερον, πρὸ τοῦ εἰσαγαγεῖν με αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθὴν, ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν.
And Moses wrote this song in that day, and taught it to the children of Israel.Καὶ ἔγραψε Μωυσῆς τὴν ᾠδὴν ταύτην ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, καὶ ἐδίδαξεν αὐτὴν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραήλ.
And he charged Joshua, and said, Be courageous and strong, for you shall bring the sons of Israel into the land, which the Lord swore to them, and he shall be with you.Καὶ ἐνετείλατο Ἰησοῖ, καὶ εἶπεν, ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε, σὺ γὰρ εἰσάξεις τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσεν αὐτοῖς Κύριος, καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται μετὰ σοῦ.
And when Moses finished writing all the words of this law in a book, even to the end,Ἡνίκα δὲ συνετέλεσε Μωυσῆς γράφων πάντας τοὺς λόγους τοῦ νόμου τούτου εἰς βιβλίον ἕως εἰς τέλος,
then he charged the Levites who bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying,καὶ ἐνετείλατο τοῖς Λευίταις τοῖς αἴρουσι τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης Κυρίου, λέγων,
Take the book of this law, and you shall put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God; and it shall be there † among you for a testimony.λαβόντες τὸ βιβλίον τοῦ νόμου τούτου, θήσετε αὐτὸ ἐκ πλαγίων τῆς κιβωτοῦ τῆς διαθήκης Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν· καὶ ἔσται ἐκεῖ ἐν σοὶ εἰς μαρτύριον.
For I know your provocation, and your stiff neck; for yet during my life with you at this day, you have been provoking in your conduct toward God: how shall you not also be so after my death?Ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐπίσταμαι τὸν ἐρεθισμόν σου, καὶ τὸν τράχηλόν σου τὸν σκληρόν· ἔτι γὰρ ἐμοῦ ζῶντος μεθʼ ὑμῶν σήμερον, παραπικραίνοντες ἦτε τὰ πρὸς τὸν Θεόν· πῶς οὐχὶ καὶ ἔσχατον τοῦ θανάτου μου;
Gather together to me the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, that I may speak in their ears all these words; and I call both heaven and earth to witness against them.Ἐκκλησιάσατε πρὸς μὲ τοὺς φυλάρχους ὑμῶν, καὶ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους ὑμῶν, καὶ τοὺς κριτὰς ὑμῶν, καὶ τοὺς γραμματοεισαγωγεῖς ὑμῶν, ἵνα λαλήσω εἰς τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους· καὶ διαμαρτύρομαι αὐτοῖς τόν τε οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν.
For I know that after my death you will utterly transgress, and turn aside out of the way which I have commanded you; and evils shall come upon you ‡ in the latter days, because you will do evil before the Lord, to provoke him to anger by the works of your hands. And Moses spoke all the words of this song even to the end, in the ears of the whole assembly.Οἶδα γὰρ ὅτι ἔσχατον τῆς τελευτῆς μου ἀνομίᾳ ἀνομήσετε, καὶ ἐκκλινεῖτε ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἧς ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν, καὶ συναντήσεται ὑμῖν τὰ κακὰ ἔσχατον τῶν ἡμερῶν, ὅτι ποιήσετε τὰ πονηρὰ ἐναντίον Κυρίου, παροργίσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν ὑμῶν.
Καὶ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς εἰς τὰ ὦτα πάσης ἐκκλησίας τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ᾠδῆς ταύτης ἕως εἰς τέλος.
