Deuteronomy 7

And when the Lord your God shall bring you into the land, into which you go to possess it, and shall remove great nations from before you, the Chettite, and Gergesite, and Amorite, and Chananite, and Pherezite, and Evite, and Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and stronger than you,Ἐὰν δὲ εἰσάγῃ σε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, εἰς ἣν εἰσπορεύῃ ἐκεῖ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτὴν, καὶ ἐξάρῃ ἔθνη μεγάλα ἀπὸ προσώπου σου, τὸν Χετταῖον καὶ Γεργεσαῖον καὶ Ἀμοῤῥαῖον καὶ Χαναναῖον καὶ Φερεζαῖον καὶ Εὐαῖον καὶ Ἰεβουσαῖον, ἐπτὰ ἔθην πολλὰ καὶ ἰσχυρότερα ὑμῶν·

and the Lord your God shall deliver them into your hands, then you shall strike them: you shall utterly destroy them: you shall not make a covenant with them, neither shall you pity them:Καὶ παραδώσει αὐτοὺς Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου, καὶ πατάξεις αὐτούς· ἀφανισμῷ ἀφανιεῖς αὐτούς· οὐ διαθήσῃ πρὸς αὐτοὺς διαθήκην, οὐδὲ μὴ ἐλεήσητε αὐτούς,

neither shall you contract marriages with them: you shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter to your son.οὐδὲ μὴ γαμβρεύσητε πρὸς αὐτούς· τὴν θυγατέρα σου οὐ δώσεις τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ οὐ λήψῃ τῷ υἱῷ σου.

For he will draw away your son from me, and he will serve other gods; and the Lord will be very angry with you, and will soon utterly destroy you.Ἀποστήσει γὰρ τὸν υἱόν σου ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ λατρεύσει θεοῖς ἑτέροις· καὶ ὀργισθήσεται θυμῷ Κύριος εἰς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἐξολοθρεύσει σε τοτάχος.

But thus shall you do to them; you shall destroy their altars, and shall break down their pillars, and shall cut down their groves, and shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods.Ἀλλʼ οὕτω ποιήσετε αὐτοῖς· τοὺς βωμοὺς αὐτῶν καθελεῖτε, καὶ τὰς στήλας αὐτῶν συντρίψετε, καὶ τὰ ἄλση αὐτῶν ἐκκόψετε, καὶ τὰ γλυπτὰ τῶν θεῶν αὐτῶν κατακαύσετε πυρί.

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; and the Lord your God chose you to be to him a peculiar people beyond all nations that are upon the face of the earth.Ὅτι λαὸς ἅγιος εἶ Κυρίῳ τῷ Θεῷ σου· καὶ σὲ προείλετο Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἶναι αὐτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον παρὰ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, ὅσα ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς.

It was not because you are more numerous than all other nations that the Lord preferred you, and the Lord made choice of you: for you are fewer in number than all other nations.Οὐχ ὅτι πολυπληθεῖτε παρὰ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, προείλετο Κύριος ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἐξελέξατο Κύριος ὑμᾶς· ὑμεῖς γάρ ἐστε ὀλιγοστοὶ παρὰ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη.

But because the Lord loved you, and as keeping the oath which he swore to your fathers, the Lord brought you out with a strong hand, and the Lord redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao king of Egypt.Ἀλλὰ παρὰ τὸ ἀγαπᾷν Κύριον ὑμᾶς, καὶ διατηρῶν τὸν ὅρκον ὃν ὤμοσε τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν, ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς Κύριος ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ, καὶ ἐλυτρώσατό σε Κύριος ἐξ οἴκου δουελίας, ἐκ χειρὸς Φαραὼ βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου.

You shall know therefore, that the Lord your God, he is God, a faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him, and for those that keep his commandments to a thousand generations,Καὶ γνώσῃ, ὅτι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου, οὗτος Θεός· Θεὸς πιστός, ὁ φυλάσσων διαθήκην καὶ ἔλεος τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτὸν καὶ τοῖς φυλάσσουσι τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ εἰς χιλίας γενεάς,

and who recompenses them that hate him to their face, to destroy them utterly; and will not be slack with them that hate him: he will recompense them to their face.καὶ ἀποδιδοὺς τοῖς μισοῦσι κατὰ πρόσωπον ἐξολοθρεῦσαι αὐτούς· καὶ οὐχὶ βραδυνεῖ τοίς μισοῦσι· κατὰ πρόσωπον ἀποδώσει αὐτοῖς.

You shall keep therefore the commands, and the ordinances, and these judgments, which I command you this day to do.Καὶ φυλάξῃ τὰς ἐντολὰς, καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα, καὶ τὰ κρίματα ταῦτα, ὅσα ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι σήμερον ποιεῖν.

And it shall come to pass when you shall have heard these ordinances, and shall have kept and done them, that the Lord your God shall keep for you the covenant and the mercy, which he swore to your fathers.Καὶ ἔσται ἡνίκα ἂν ἀκούσητε τὰ δικαιώματα ταῦτα, καὶ φυλάξητε καὶ ποιήσητε αὐτὰ, καὶ διαφυλάξει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου σοὶ τὴν διαθήκην καὶ τὸ ἔλεος, ὃ ὤμοσε τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν.

And he will love you, and bless you, and multiply you; and he will bless the off-spring of your * body, and the fruit of your land, your corn, and your wine, and your oil, the herds of your oxen, and the flocks of your sheep, on the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give to you.Καὶ ἀγαπήσει σε, καὶ εὐλογήσει σε, καὶ πληθυνεῖ σε, καὶ εὐλογήσει τὰ ἔγγονα τῆς κοιλίας σου, καὶ τὸν καρπὸν τῆς γῆς σου, τὸν σῖτόν σου, καὶ τὸν οἶνόν σου, καὶ τὸ ἔλαιόν σου, τὰ βουκόλια τῶν βοῶν σου, καὶ τὰ ποίμνια τῶν προβάτων σου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἧς ὤμοσε Κύριος τοῖς πατράσι σου δοῦναί σοι.

You shall be blessed beyond all nations; there shall not be among you an impotent or barren one, † or among your cattle.Εὐλογητὸς ἔσῃ παρὰ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη· οὐκ ἔσται ἐν ὑμῖν ἄγονος, οὐδὲ στεῖρα, καὶ ἐν τοῖς κτήνεσί σου.

And the Lord your God shall remove from you all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you have seen, and all that you have known, will he lay upon you; but he will lay them upon all that hate you.Καὶ περιελεῖ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ἀπὸ σοῦ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν, καὶ πάσας νόσους Αἰγύπτου τὰς πονηρὰς, ἃς ἑώρακας, καὶ ὅσα ἔγνως, οὐκ ἐπιθήσει ἐπὶ σὲ· καὶ ἐπιθήσει αὐτὰ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς μισοῦντὰς σε.

And you shall eat all the spoils of the nations which the Lord your God gives you; your eye shall not spare them, and you shall not serve their gods; for this is an offense to you.Καὶ φαγῇ πάντα τὰ σκῦλα τῶν ἐθνῶν, ἃ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου δίδωσί σοι· οὐ φείσεται ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἐπʼ αὐτοῖς, καὶ οὐ μὴ λατρεύσῃς τοῖς θεοῖς αὐτῶν· ὅτι σκῶλον τοῦτό ἐστί σοί.

But if you should say in your heart, This nation is ‡ greater than I, how shall I be able to destroy them utterly?Ἐὰν δὲ λέγῃς ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ σου, ὅτι πολὺ τὸ ἔθνος τοῦτο ἢ ἐγώ, πῶς δυνήσομαι ἐξολοθρεῦσαι αὐτούς;

you shall not fear them; you shall surely remember all that the Lord your God did to Pharao and to all the Egyptians:Οὐ φοβηθήσῃ αὐτούς· μνείᾳ μνησθήσῃ, ὅσα ἐποίησε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου τῷ Φαραὼ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις·

the great temptations which your eyes have seen, those signs and great wonders, the strong hand, and the high arm; how the Lord your God brought you forth: so the Lord your God will do to all the nations, whom you fear in their presence.Τοὺς πειρασμοὺς τοὺς μεγάλους, οὓς ἴδοσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου, τὰ σημεῖα καὶ τὰ τέρατα τὰ μεγάλα ἐκεῖνα, τὴν χεῖρα τὴν κραταιὰν, καὶ τὸν βραχίονα τὸν ὑψηλόν· ὡς ἐξήγαγέ σε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου, οὕτως ποιήσει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ὑμῶν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οὓς σὺ φοβῇ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν.

And the Lord your God shall send against them the hornets, until they that are left and they that are hidden from you be utterly destroyed.Καὶ τὰς σφηκίας ἀποστελεῖ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς αὐτοὺς, ἕως ἂν ἐκτριβῶσιν οἱ καταλελειμμένοι καὶ οἱ κεκρυμμένοι ἀπὸ σοῦ·

You shall not be wounded before them, because the Lord your God in the midst of you is a great and powerful God.Οὐ τρωθήσῃ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ὅτι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ἐν σοί, Θεὸς μέγας καὶ κραταιός.

And the Lord your God shall consume these nations before you by little and little: you shall not be able to consume them speedily, lest the land become desert, and the wild beasts of the field be multiplied against you.Καὶ καταναλώσει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα ἀπὸ προσώπου σου κατὰ μικρὸν μικρόν· οὐ δυνήσῃ ἐξαναλῶσαι αὐτοὺς τοτάχος, ἵνα μὴ γένηται ἡ γῆ ἔρημος, καὶ πληθυνθῇ ἐπὶ σὲ τὰ θηρία τὰ ἄγρια.

And the Lord your God shall deliver them into your hands, and you shall destroy them with a great destruction, until you shall have utterly destroyed them.Καὶ παραδώσει αὐτοὺς Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου, καὶ ἀπολεῖς αὐτοὺς ἀπωλείᾳ μεγάλῃ, ἕως ἂν ἐξολοθρεύσητε αὐτούς·

And he shall deliver their kings into your hands, and you shall destroy their name from that place; none shall stand up in opposition before you, until you shall have utterly destroyed them.Καὶ παραδώσει τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀπολεῖτε τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου· οὐκ ἀντιστήσεται οὐθεὶς κατὰ πρόσωπόν σου, ἕως ἂν ἐξολοθρεύσῃς αὐτούς.

You shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods: you shall not covet their silver, neither shall you take to yourself gold from them, lest you should offend thereby, because it is an abomination to the Lord your God.Τὰ γλυπτὰ τῶν Θεῶν αὐτῶν καύσετε πυρί· οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις ἀργύριον, οὐδὲ χρυσίον ἀπʼ αὐτῶν οὐ λήψῃ σεαυτῷ, μὴ πταίσῃς διʼ αὐτὸ, ὅτι βδέλυγμα Κυρίῳ τῷ Θεῷ σού ἐστί.

And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, so § should you be an accursed thing like it; you shall utterly hate it, and altogether abominate it, because it is an accursed thing.Καὶ οὐκ εἰσοίσεις βδέλυγμα εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου, καὶ ἀνάθεμα ἔσῃ ὥσπερ τοῦτο· προσοχθίσματι προσοχθιεῖς, καὶ βδελύγματι βδελύξῃ, ὅτι ἀνάθεμά ἐστι.
