Leviticus 25

And the Lord spoke to Moses in the mount Sina, saying,Καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σινᾷ, λέγων,

Speak to the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, Whenever you shall have entered into the land, which I give to you, then the land shall rest which I give to you, for its sabbaths to the Lord.λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς, ὅταν εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν, καὶ ἀναπαύσεται ἡ γῆ, ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν, σάββατα τῷ Κυρίῳ.

Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vine, and gather in its fruit.Ἓξ ἔτη σπερεῖς τὸν ἀγρόν σου, καὶ ἓξ ἔτη τεμεῖς τὴν ἄμπελόν σου, καὶ συνάξεις τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς.

But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath, it shall be a rest to the land, a sabbath to the Lord: you shall not sow your field, and you shall not prune your vine.Τῷ δὲ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ σάββατα· ἀνάπαυσις ἔσται τῇ γῇ, σάββατα τῷ Κυρίῳ· τὸν ἀγρόν σου οὐ σπερεῖς, καὶ τὴν ἄμπελόν σου οὐ τεμεῖς,

And you shall not gather the spontaneous produce of your field, and you shall not gather fully the grapes of your dedication: it shall be a year of rest to the land.καὶ τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα τοῦ ἀγροῦ σου οὐκ ἐκθερίσεις, καἰ τὴν σταφυλὴν τοῦ ἁγιάσματός σου οὐκ ἐκτρυγήσεις· ἐνιαυτὸς ἀναπαύσεως ἔσται τῇ γῇ.

And the sabbaths of the land shall be food for you, and for your man-servant, and for your maidservant, and your hireling, and the stranger that abides with you.Καὶ ἔσται τὰ σάββατα τῆς γῆς βρώματά σοι, καὶ τῷ παιδί σου, καὶ τῇ παιδίσκῃ σου, καὶ τῷ μισθωτῷ σου, καὶ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ προσκειμένῳ πρὸς σέ.

And for your cattle, and for the wild beats that are in your land, shall every fruit of it be for food.Καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσί σου, καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τοῖς ἐν τῇ γῇ σου ἔσται πᾶν τὸ γέννημα αὐτοῦ εἰς βρῶσιν.

And you shall reckon to yourself seven sabbaths of years, seven times seven years; and they shall be to you seven weeks of years, nine and forty years.Καὶ ἐξαριθμήσεις σεαυτῷ ἑπτὰ ἀναπαύσεις ἐτῶν, ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἑπτάκις· καὶ ἔσονταί σοι ἑπτὰ ἑβδομάδες ἐτῶν ἐννέα καὶ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη.

In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall make a proclamation with the sound of a trumpet in all your land; on the day of atonement you shall make a proclamation with a trumpet in all your land.Διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγος φωνῇ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνός· τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ ἱλασμοῦ διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγι ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν.

And you shall sanctify the year, the fifties year, and you shall proclaim a release upon the land to all that inhabit it; it shall be given a year of release, a jubilee for you; and each one shall depart to his possession, and you shall go each to his family.Καὶ ἁγιάσετε τὸ ἔτος τὸν πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸν, καὶ διαβοήσετε ἄφεσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πᾶσι τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν αὐτήν· ἐνιαυτὸς ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη ἔσται ὑμῖν· καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἷς ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν πατριὰν αὐτοῦ ἀπελεύσεσθε.

This is a jubilee of release, the year shall be to you the fifties year: you shall not sow, nor reap the produce that comes of itself from the land, neither shall you gather its dedicated fruits.Ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη, τὸ ἔτος τὸ πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸς ἔσται ὑμῖν· οὐ σπερεῖτε, οὐδὲ ἀμήσετε τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα αὐτῆς, καὶ οὐ τρυγήσετε τὰ ἡγιασμένα αὐτῆς,

For it is a jubilee of release; it shall be holy to you, you shall eat its fruits off the fields.ὅτι ἀφέσεως σημασία ἐστίν· ἅγιον ἔσται ὑμῖν· ἀπὸ τῶν πεδίων φάγεσθε τὰ γεννήματα αὐτῆς.

In the year of the release even the jubilee of it, shall each one return to his possession.Ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως σημασίας αὐτῆς ἐπανελεύσεται εἰς τὴν ἔγκτησιν αὐτοῦ.

And if you should sell a possession to your neighbor, or if you should buy of your neighbor, let not a man oppress his neighbor.Ἐὰν δὲ ἀποδῷ πράσιν τῷ πλησίον σου, ἐὰν δὲ καὶ κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον σου, μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον.

According to the number of years after the jubilee shall you buy of your neighbor, according to the number of years of the fruits shall he sell to you.Κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐτῶν μετὰ τὴν σημασίαν κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐνιαυτῶν γεννημάτων ἀποδώσεταί σοι.

According as there may be a greater number of years he shall increase the value of his possession, and according as there may be a less number of years he shall lessen the value of his possession; for according to the number of his crops, so shall he sell to you.Καθότι ἂν πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν πληθυνεῖ τὴν ἔγκτησιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ καθότι ἂν ἔλαττον τῶν ἐτῶν ἐλαττονώσει τὴν ἔγκτησιν αὐτοῦ· ὅτι ἀριθμὸν γεννημάτων αὐτοῦ, οὕτως ἀποδώσεταί σοι.

Let not a man oppress his neighbor, and you shall fear the Lord your God: I am the Lord your God.Μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον· καὶ φοβηθήσῃ Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου· ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ὑμῶν.

And you shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments; and do you observe them, and you shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.Καὶ ποιήσετε πάντα τὰ δικαιώματά μου, καὶ πάσας τὰς κρίσεις μου, καὶ φυλάξασθε, καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὰ, καὶ κατοικήσετε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πεποιθότες.

And the land shall yield her increase, and you shall eat to fullness, and shall dwell securely in it.Καὶ δώσει ἡ γῆ τὰ ἐκφόρια αὐτῆς, καὶ φάγεσθε εἰς πλησμονὴν, καὶ κατοικήσετε πεποιθότες ἐπʼ αὐτῆς.

And if you should say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our fruits?Ἐὰν δὲ λέγητε, τί φαγόμεθα ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τούτῳ, ἐὰν μὴ σπείρωμεν μηδὲ συναγάγωμεν τὰ γεννήματα ἡμῶν;

Then will I send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and the land shall produce its fruits for three years.Καὶ ἀποστέλλω τὴν εὐλογίαν μου ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἕκτῳ, καὶ ποιήσει τὰ γεννήματα αὐτῆς εἰς τὰ τρία ἔτη.

And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old fruits till the ninth year: until its fruit come, you shall eat old fruits of the old.Καὶ σπερεῖτε τὸ ἔτος τὸ ὄγδοον, καὶ φάγεσθε ἀπὸ τῶν γεννημάτων παλαιὰ ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τοῦ ἐνάτου· ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ τὸ γέννημα αὐτῆς, φάγεσθε παλαιὰ παλαιῶν.

And the land shall not be sold for a permanence; for the land is mine, because you are strangers and sojourners before me.Καὶ ἡ γῆ οὐ πραθήσεται εἰς βεβαίωσιν· ἐμὴ γάρ ἐστιν ἡ γῆ, διότι προσήλυτοι καὶ πάροικοι ὑμεῖς ἐστε ἐναντίον μου.

And in every land of your possession, you shall allow ransoms for the land.Καὶ κατὰ πᾶσαν γῆν κατασχέσεως ὑμῶν, λύτρα δώσετε τῆς γῆς.

And if your brother who is with you be poor, and should have sold part of his possession, and his kinsman who is near to him come, then he shall redeem the possession which his brother has sold.Ἐὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σου ὁ μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ ἀποδῶται ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔλθῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων ὁ ἐγγίζων αὐτῷ, καὶ λυτρώσεται τὴν πρᾶσιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ.

And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;Ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ τινι ὁ ἀγχιστεύων, καὶ εὐπορηθῇ τῇ χειρὶ, καὶ εὑρεθῇ αὐτῷ τὸ ἱκανὸν, λύτρα αὐτοῦ·

then shall he calculate the years of his sale, and he shall give what is due to the man to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession.καὶ συλλογιεῖται τὰ ἔτη τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀποδώσει ὅ ὑπερέχει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, ᾧ ἀπέδοτο αὐτὸ αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ.

But if his hand have not prospered sufficiently, so as that he should restore the money to him, then he that bought the possessions shall have them till the sixth year of the release; and it shall go out in the release, and the owner shall return to his possession.Ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εὑπορηθῇ αὐτοῦ ἡ χεὶρ τὸ ἱκανὸν, ὥστε ἀποδοῦναι αὐτῷ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ πράσις τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὰ ἕως τοῦ ἕκτου ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ.

And if any one should sell an inhabited house in a walled city, then there shall be the ransom of it, until the time is fulfilled: its time of ransom shall be a full year.Ἐὰν δέ τις ἀποδῶται οἰκίαν οἰκητὴν ἐν πόλει τετειχισμένῃ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς, ἕως πληρωθῇ· ἐνιαυτὸς ἡμερῶν ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς.

And if it be not ransomed until there be completed of its time a full year, the house which is in the walled city shall be surely confirmed to him that bought it, throughout his generations; and it shall not go out in the release.Ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρωθῇ ἕως ἂν πληρωθῇ αὐτῆς ἐνιαυτὸς ὅλος, κυρωθήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἡ οὖσα ἐν πόλει τῇ ἐχούσῃ τεῖχος, βεβαίως τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὴν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει.

But the houses in the villages which have not a wall round about them, shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they shall always be redeemable, and they shall go out in the release.Αἱ δὲ οἰκίαι αἱ ἐν ἐπαύλεσιν, αἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐταῖς τεῖχος κύκλῳ, πρὸς τὸν ἀγρὸν τῆς γῆς λογισθήσονται· λυτρωταὶ διαπαντὸς ἔσονται, καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει ἐξελεύσονται.

And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities in their possession, shall be always redeemable to the Levites.Καὶ αἱ πόλεις τῶν Λευιτῶν, οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν, λυτρωταὶ διαπαντὸς ἔσονται τοῖς Λευίταις.

And if any one shall redeem a house of the Levites, then shall their sale of the houses of their possession go out in the release; because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession in the midst of the children of Israel.Καὶ ὃς ἂν λυτρώσηται παρὰ τῶν Λευιτῶν, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἡ διάπρασις αὐτῶν οἰκιῶν πόλεως κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει, ὅτι οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων τῶν Λευιτῶν κατάσχεσις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ.

And the lands set apart for their cities shall not be sold, because this is their perpetual possession.Καὶ οἱ ἀγροὶ ἀφωρισμένοι ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν οὐ πραθήσονται, ὅτι κατάσχεσις αἰωνία τοῦτο αὐτῶν ἐστον.

And if your brother who is with you become poor, and he fail in resources with you, you shall help him as a stranger and a sojourner, and your brother shall live with you.Ἐὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σοῦ ὁ μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ ἀδυνατήσῃ ταῖς χερσὶ παρὰ σοὺ, ἀντιλήψῃ αὐτοῦ ὡς προσηλύτου καὶ παροίκου, καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ.

You shall not receive from him interest, nor increase: and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord: and your brother shall live with you.Οὐ λήψῃ παρʼ αὐτοῦ τόκον, οὐδὲ ἐπὶ πλήθει· καὶ φοβηθήσῃ τὸν Θεόν σου· ἐγὼ Κύριος· καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ.

You shall not lend your money to him at interest, and you shall not lend your meat to him to be returned with increase.Τὸ ἀργύριόν σου οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τὸκῳ, καὶ ἐπὶ πλεονασμῷ οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ τὰ βρώματά σου.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Chanaan, so as to be your God.Ἐγὼ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ὑμῶν, ὁ ἐξαγαγὼν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν γῆν Χαναὰν, ὥστε εἶναι ὑμῶν Θεός.

And if your brother by you be lowered, and be sold to you, he shall not serve you with the servitude of a slave.Ἐὰν δὲ ταπεινωθῇ ὁ ἀδελφός σου παρὰ σοὶ, καὶ πραθῇ σοι, οὐ δουλεύσει σοι δουλείαν οἰκέτου.

He shall be with you as a hireling or a sojourner, he shall work for you till the year of release:Ὡς μισθωτὸς ἢ πάροικος ἔσται σοι· ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως ἐργᾶται παρὰ σοί,

and he shall go out in the release, and his children with him; and he shall go to his family, he shall hasten back to his patrimony.καὶ ἐξελεύσεται τῇ ἀφέσει, καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν γενεὰν αὐτοῦ, εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν τὴν πατρικὴν ἀποδραμεῖται.

Because these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; such an one shall not be sold as a common servant.Διότι οἰκέται μου εἰσὶν οὗτοι, οὓς ἐξήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου· οὐ πραθήσεται ἐν πράσει οἰκέτου.

You shall not oppress him with labor, and shall fear the Lord your God.Οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ, καὶ φοβηθήσῃ Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου,

And whatever number of menservants and maidservants you shall have, you shall purchase male and female servants from the nations that are round about you.καὶ παῖς καὶ παιδίσκη ὅσοι ἂν γένωνταί σοι, ἀπὸ τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅσοι κύκλῳ σου εἰσὶν, ἀπʼ αὐτῶν κτήσεσθε δοῦλον καὶ δούλην,

And of the sons of the sojourners that are among you, of these you shall buy and of their relations, all that shall be in your lands; let them be to you for a possession.καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν παροίκων τῶν ὄντων ἐν ὑμῖν, ἀπὸ τούτων κτήσεσθε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν συγγενῶν αὐτῶν, ὅσοι ἂν γένωνται ἐν τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν, ἔστωσαν ὑμῖν εἰς κατάσχεσιν.

And you shall distribute them to your children after you, and they shall be to you permanent possessions for ever: but of your brethren the children of Israel, one shall not oppress his brother in labors.Καὶ καταμεριεῖτε αὐτοὺς τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν μεθʼ ὑμᾶς· καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν κατόχιμοι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· τῶν δὲ ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ, ἕκαστος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐ κατατενεῖ αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς μόχθοις.

And if a stranger or sojourner with you wax rich, and your brother in distress be sold to the stranger or the sojourner that is with you, or to a proselyte by extraction;Ἐὰν δὲ εὕρῃ ἡ χεὶρ τοὺ προσηλύτου ἢ τοῦ παροίκου τοῦ παρὰ σοὶ, καὶ ἀπορηθεὶς ὁ ἀδελφός σου πραθῇ τῷ προσηλύτῳ ἢ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ παρὰ σοὶ, ἢ ἐκ γενετῆς προσηλύτῳ,

after he is sold to him there shall be redemption for him, one of his brethren shall redeem him.μετὰ τὸ πραθῆναι αὐτῷ, λύτρωσις ἔσται αὐτοῦ· εἷς τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ λυτρώσεται αὐτόν.

A brother of his father, or a son of his father's brother shall redeem him; or let one of his near kin of his tribe redeem him, and if he should be rich and redeem himself,Ἀδελφὸς πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, ἢ υἱὸς ἀδελφοῦ πατρὸς λυτρώσεται αὐτόν, ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν οἰκείων τῶν σαρκῶν αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς αὐτοῦ λυτρῶται αὐτόν· ἐὰν δὲ εὐπορηθεὶς ταῖς χερσὶ λυτρῶται ἑαυτὸν,

then shall he calculate with his purchaser from the year that he sold himself to him until the year of release: and the money of his purchase shall be as that of a hireling, he shall be with him from year to year.καὶ συλλογιεῖται πρὸς τὸν κεκτημένον αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἔτους οὗ ἀπέδοτο ἑαυτὸν αὐτῷ ἕως τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ τῆς ἀφέσεως· καὶ ἔσται τὸ ἀργύριον τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ ὡς μισθίου· ἔτος ἐξ ἔτους ἔσται μετʼ αὐτοῦ.

And if any have a greater number of years than enough, according to these he shall pay his ransom out of his purchase-money.Ἐὰν δέ τινι πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν ᾖ, πρὸς ταῦτα ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀργυρίου τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ.

And if but a little time be left of the years to the year of release, then shall he reckon to him according to his years, and shall pay his ransomἘὰν δὲ ὀλίγον καταλειφθῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐτῶν εἰς τὸν ἐνιαυτὸν τῆς ἀφέσεως, καὶ συλλογιεῖται αὐτῷ κατὰ τὰ ἔτη αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ ὡς μισθωτός·

as a hireling; he shall be with him from year to year; you shall not oppress him with labor before you.ἐνιαυτὸς ἐξ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἔσται μετʼ αὐτοῦ· οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ ἐνώπιόν σου.

And if he do not pay his ransom accordingly, he shall go out in the year of his release, he and his children with him.Ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρῶται κατὰ ταῦτα, ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως αὐτὸς καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτοῦ μετʼ αὐτοῦ.

For the children of Israel are my servants: they are my attendants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt.Ὅτι ἐμοὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ οἰκέται εἰσὶ, παῖδές μου οὗτοί εἰσιν, οὓς ἐξήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
