Bath-rabbim Libanus

(daughter of many) (Song of Songs 7:5) — a gate of the city of Heshbon. According to the custom in eastern and other cities, such gates received their name from the place to which the road leading from them went. It may have been Rabbah-Ammon, situated at a distance of 16 English miles from them, but from the citation given above we see that the gate of Bath-rabbim was located by the fishponds, one of which is still preserved near Heshbon, though these ponds were quite far from Rabbah-Ammon.
