Boar, or wild boar

(Ps 80:13) - lamenting the Jews' calamity and the change of God's former mercies toward them into righteous anger, the psalmist compares the Jewish church to a vine brought from Egypt, rooted up by the wild boar and devoured by the beast of the field. The image aptly describes the enemies who brought the Jewish people into misery: this fierce, thick-skinned animal not only eats the fruit but breaks the branches with its tusks, roots up vines with its snout, and tramples them.
