False Christs

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Matt. 24:24)—persons who falsely claim the name and authority of Christ. The Lord Jesus warned His disciples that false christs and false prophets would arise and seek to deceive even the elect. The source says that at least twenty-four persons had made such claims and that Jewish support for several of them brought severe losses in life and property.
