Generosity

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

—one of the perfections of God, manifested in his mercy, love, and longsuffering (Pss. 86:15; 103:8; 111:4; 145:8, and elsewhere). Generosity toward one’s neighbor was commanded to the children of Israel, especially toward a poor brother at his release from service (Deut. 15:10-14), and it is preeminently a Christian virtue. See also Mercy and Almsgiving.
