(Jer. 41:8)—concealed stores of wheat, barley, oil, and honey. Ten of the eighty men seized by Ishmael son of Nethaniah pleaded for their lives by revealing that they had provisions hidden in the fields. Grain and other goods could be stored in underground pits, cistern-like chambers, or plastered silos protected from heat and theft. The text does not require one uniform architectural form.
