Nob, otherwise Nomva Nomba
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(a hill, an elevation) (1 Sam. 21:1, 22:9 and others)—a priestly city in the tribe of Benjamin, the dwelling place of the high priest Ahimelech, at the time when David came to him and received from him the shewbread and the sword of Goliath. Learning of this, Saul ordered the destruction of all the priests of Nob and of the city itself with all its inhabitants (ch. 22). The city was probably located near Jerusalem, and from it, according to Jewish tradition, the whole of Jerusalem could be seen.
