Samaria

(watch-place; watchtower)—the name of both a region and a city. (1) (1 Kings 13:32 and elsewhere) the central region of Canaan between Galilee on the north and Judea on the south, called Samaria in the time of the Lord Jesus Christ. It included the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh; the source’s contemporary districts contained Caesarea and Mount Carmel in the west and Shechem and the city of Samaria around Nablus.
