Berodach-baladan

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(2 Kings 20:12) — son of Baladan, king of Babylon, with whom Hezekiah, king of Judah, entered into such friendly relations that he received for it a stern rebuke from the prophet Isaiah. He is also called Merodach-baladan — a name meaning “Mars is his lord” (Isa. 39:1), and it occurs in the cuneiform inscriptions on the monuments of Babylon.
