Berothai, or Berothah
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(cypress) (2 Sam. 8:8; Ezek. 47:16) — a city belonging to Hadadezer, king of Zobah. David, having defeated Hadadezer, took from here a very great quantity of bronze. The location of the city is unknown. Some take it to be Beirut, but in the prophet Ezekiel, Berothah is placed near Hamath and Sibraim, interior cities of the country, whereas Beirut is a distant coastal city. In the Hebrew text Berothai is plainly called Cun (1 Chron. 18:8), and in the Syriac directly: Berothan.
