(the LORD will provide) (Gen 22:14). Abraham gave this name to the place on Mount Moriah where he was to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice. To Isaac's question, 'where is the lamb for a burnt offering?' Abraham replied, 'God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' He therefore named the place Jehovah-jireh.
