Mediator

(Gal. 3:19)—one who stands between parties in order to communicate, represent, or reconcile. Moses served as mediator in the giving of the Law, which was ordained through angels (Gal. 3:19-20). The title belongs supremely to Christ: “There is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human” (1 Tim. 2:5). Because he is truly God and truly man, he reconciles humanity to God through his self-offering and brings believers into the new covenant (Heb. 8:6; 9:15).
