(2 Macc. 1:13, 15)—a deity of the Assyrians, Persians, and other eastern peoples, depicted on the coins of the Sassanids in a Muslim-style garment with folds, with a crown around her head and a lotus flower in her right hand. In the Persian city of Elymais a magnificent temple was built in honor of this goddess.
