Red Heifer

(Num. 19:1-10)—an unblemished red cow that had never borne a yoke, prescribed for the rite of purification from corpse-defilement. It was taken outside the camp, slaughtered before the priest, and completely burned with cedarwood, hyssop, and scarlet. Its ashes were kept and mixed with living water to make water for purification.
