Sinim Persians

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(country; land) (Isa. 49:12)—a distant country named by Isaiah in his prophecy of the future calling of the nations. The source follows the common opinion of its day in identifying it with China because the name Sinim resembles an ancient name for that country. The identification is uncertain; the Septuagint understood the word as Persia.
