The Book of Joshua
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
belongs to the historical books of the Old Testament. It contains twenty-four chapters and may be divided into three parts: chapters 1-12, the conquest of Canaan; chapters 13-22, the division of the Promised Land among Israel's tribes; and chapters 23-24, Joshua's final acts and death. The source follows the traditional view that Joshua himself wrote the book, except for the account of his death and burial, which was added later.
