The Second Catholic Epistle of John
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
contains one chapter of thirteen verses. The apostle wrote it to an 'elect lady and her children,' whom, he testifies, he loved in the truth - 'and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth' (v. 1). She was probably an honored and distinguished woman converted to Christ and well known to the apostolic Church.
