Wilderness of En-gedi Engaddi

(1 Sam. 24:2) — part of the wilderness of Judea, in the vicinity of the city of Engedi, in which David hid from Saul, who pursued him even there. Its numerous crags and caves at all times served as a secure refuge for people who, for one reason or another, had to hide from human society, and perhaps from justice.
