Achim

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(from the Hebrew, meaning “confirmation”) — the proper name of one of the persons mentioned in the genealogy of the Lord (Matt. 1:14), son of Zadok and father of Eliud. He lived after the Babylonian captivity. It is thought that he is the same person as Jachin, mentioned in 1 Chronicles (24:17), but this supposition is not well founded; it should rather be thought that Achim lived considerably later than Jachin mentioned in Chronicles, and is separated from Joseph, the betrothed of the Blessed Virgin Mary, by only five generations.

Scripture cited

Matthew 1:14
