Antigonus

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

— son of Aristobulus II, high priest and king of Judea. The name of this Antigonus is not found in the biblical books, but his history is notable especially in that at his death the scepter departed from Judah, and the lawgiver from between his feet, as the patriarch Jacob had foretold before his death, blessing his children (Gen. 49:10), and this was a sign of the near approach of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth.

Scripture cited

Genesis 49:10
