Antipatris
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(Acts 23:31 [as given]) — a city between Caesarea and Jerusalem, ten or fifteen English miles from Jaffa. It was founded by Herod the Great, and is notable as the place to which the Apostle Paul was brought by the Roman garrison, on account of a Jewish plot against him, when they wished to kill him. Antipatris was built on the ruins of a place called, according to Josephus, Kafar Saba. Among present-day Arabs this place is known by almost the same name: Kefr Saba.
