(created by God) — the name of three persons: a) (2 Sam. 2:18–22) brother of Joab, “light of foot as a wild roe,” according to the sacred writer, killed by Abner, Saul’s commander, and buried in Bethlehem; b) (2 Chron. 31:13) a Levite, appointed by King Hezekiah to serve in the house of the Lord; c) (Ezra 10:15) father of Jonathan, who was appointed by Ezra to examine the cases of Israelites who had married foreign wives.
