Geshur

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(happy) (2 Sam. 2:9) — a region or country over which Abner, after Saul’s death, made his son Ish-bosheth king, among other regions. Some think this is the same as Ashurim, an Arabian people and region, while others take Geshur to be the region or kingdom of Geshur, located north of Gilead toward Damascus.
