Asaiah

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(created by God) (2 Kings 22:12–14) — one of those sent by King Josiah to inquire of God, through the prophetess Huldah, concerning the Book of the Law found in the Temple. Of other persons of the same name are known: a) (1 Chron. 4:36) one of the princes of the tribe of Simeon; b) (1 Chron. 6:29, 30; 15:6–11) chiefs of the singers in the days of King David; c) (1 Chron. 9:5) firstborn of the Shilonites, of the tribe of Judah; d) (2 Esdras 9:32) of the Israelites married to foreign women. In Ezra (10:31) it reads: Malluch.
