Beth-rechab

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(house or family of Rechab) (1 Chron. 2:55). According to the Book of Chronicles, the father of the house of the Rechabites is reckoned to be Hammath, from whom the Kenites descend. Hence it is thought that the Rechabites were an offshoot of the Kenites, or Kenites, that is, descendants of Keni, from whom descended Hobab, Moses’s father-in-law, who together with the Israelites came into the land of Canaan and dwelt among the Israelites.
