Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(house of refuge) (Josh. 15:27) — a city in the south of the tribe of Judah. It was probably from this city that Helez the Paltite came, one of David’s bravest warriors (2 Sam. 23:26). The ruins of the city have not yet been found, but its location has been approximately determined, near the cities of Moladah and Beersheba.
