Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(possession) (Gen 5:9-14; Luke 3:37) - one of the antediluvian patriarchs, born in the year 325 from the creation of the world according to the source and living 910 years. He was Enos's son, Seth's grandson, and Mahalaleel's father, and is named in Luke's genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ (3:37). Another person of the same name in Luke 3:36 was a son of Arphaxad, son of Shem; this name is absent from the Hebrew text but appears in the Septuagint.
