Cedar

(2 Sam 7:7) - one of the most valuable and majestic trees of the eastern forests, a coniferous evergreen. It grows seventy to eighty English feet high. Its thick, long branches rise almost horizontally from the trunk, which may measure five or six sazhen in circumference (Ezek 31:3, 6, 8). The trunk is reddish, and the wood is slightly bitter; insects rarely damage it, and it is exceptionally hard. Naturalists cited by the source said that it could live more than two thousand years. Cedar was always used for costly and important buildings.
