Dalmanutha

(Mark 8:10) — the name of a village near Magdala, as is evident from a comparison of the passages in the Gospel of Mark (8:10) and Matthew (15:39). In the former citation it is said of Jesus that, after the miraculous feeding of the 4,000, He crossed the Sea of Gennesaret and came into the borders of Dalmanutha, while in the parallel passage in the Gospel of Matthew it is said that after performing this miracle He entered the boat and came into the borders of Magdala. All traces of the exact location of this village have long since vanished, and no traveler, ancient or modern, has been able to indicate where this, probably insignificant, locality was located.
