(God protects) — name of two persons: a) (Num. 3:30; 2 Chron. 29:13) one of the Levites, sons of Uzziel, chief of the families of the Kohathites. In the book of Exodus (6:22) he is called Elzaphan. To him and his brother Mishael, Moses commanded that the bodies of Nadab and Abihu be carried out of the Sanctuary to the camp, after their miraculous destruction by fire that went out from the LORD (Lev. 10:4); b) (Num. 34:25) son of Parnach, of the tribe of Zebulun — the name of a person who took part, under Moses, in the division of the Promised Land.
