Enos

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(man) (Gen. 4:26 [as given]) — son of Seth and grandson of Adam, who died at the age of 905. “At his birth,” notes the sacred writer, “men began to call upon the name of the LORD” — that is, perhaps, from this time public, open worship of God, consisting of prayer, faith, and hope in God’s gracious promises, was established among the descendants of Seth.
