Goshen

— the names of a land and a city, mentioned in the book of Joshua: a) (Josh. 10:41; 11:16) the land of Goshen is mentioned twice as a region in southern Palestine. From the first passage it may be concluded that it lay between Gaza and Gibeon, but in the second passage the coastal plain of the Shephelah is mentioned separately from Goshen; b) (Josh. 15:51) the city of Goshen is mentioned together with Socoh, Debir, and other cities located in the hill country of the tribe of Judah.
