Ajalon

(valley of gazelles): a) (Josh. 10:12; 2 Chron. 28:18) a Canaanite settlement located in the tribe of Dan, between Jerusalem and Ekron. Near Ajalon is a valley of the same name, memorable for the miracle of Joshua. It is now known by the new name Yalo, and lies fourteen English miles from Jerusalem, north of the road to Jaffa; b) (Judg. 12:12) a city in the land of Zebulun, where the judge Elon was buried. The location of this city is at present unknown.
