(Matt. 5:18)—the ninth and smallest letter of the Greek alphabet, written ι. Jesus says that until heaven and earth pass away, not one iota or one stroke will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. The expression joins the smallest Greek letter with the smallest written mark to affirm that no part of God’s purpose is insignificant or disposable.
