(Deut 23:4) — the “land between the rivers,” otherwise Padan-aram, or the valley of Aram. The name of the land lying between the Tigris and the Euphrates, and especially its northeastern part. This land was the first dwelling place of men both before and after the Flood, and was bounded on the north by Armenia, on the east by Assyria, on the south by Arabia, and on the west by Syria, embracing the whole of the present-day region of El-Jezirah in Asiatic Turkey.
