(Judg. 11:33, Ezek. 27:17) (word-meaning not precisely determined)—the name of an Ammonite city as far as which Jephthah pursued the enemy. According to Jerome, it was located an hour and a half’s journey from Heshbon toward Philadelphia, on the far side of the Jordan. The city was famed for its wheat, which was sold even in the markets of Tyre, and for other products—barley, oil, balsam, honey, and others.
