(2 Kings 15:25–31; 2 Chron. 28:6; Isa. 7:1)—son of Remaliah and king of Israel. While serving as an officer under Pekahiah, he conspired against and killed the king, then seized the throne. Scripture characterizes his reign as evil. In alliance with Rezin of Damascus, Pekah attacked Judah in the Syro-Ephraimite war but failed to capture Jerusalem; Isaiah addressed King Ahaz during this crisis.
