Praise

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Ps. 33:2)—the acknowledgment and proclamation of God’s goodness, glory, works, and saving mercy. In Scripture praise often accompanies thanksgiving, song, prayer, testimony, and congregational worship. The Psalms summon instruments, voices, nations, and all creation to praise the LORD. Biblical praise is not flattery meant to supply a divine need; it is the truthful and joyful response of creatures to the God from whom every good gift comes.
