Shallum

(recompense)—the name of several persons. (1) (2 Kings 15:10–13) son of Jabesh, conspirator and murderer of Zechariah king of Israel, whom he succeeded. He reigned only one month and was killed by Menahem of Tirzah. (2) (1 Chron. 6:12–13; 9:11; Ezra 7:2) a priest in Eleazar’s line, also called Meshullam, and an ancestor of Ezra. (3) (1 Chron. 9:31) a Korahite and father of Mattithiah the Levite. See also Sallum and Shallum.
