Adamah Armaith

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(earth) — the name of two cities: a) (Josh. 19) a fortified city in the tribe of Naphtali. Its location is now unknown; it may be the present-day Ras el-Ahmar, north of Safed; b) (Gen. 10:19) one of the cities of the plain of Siddim, destroyed by fire from heaven together with Sodom, Gomorrah, and Zeboiim. In Abraham’s time it was ruled by King Shinab (Gen. 14:2). In Hosea (11:8) this same city is also called Admah.
