He was of the tribe of Dan; b) (2 Sam. 9:4) father of Machir, in whose house Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, lived, and who provided food and household goods for David and those with him at Mahanaim; c) (1 Chron. 26:5) one of the Levites appointed by David to be among the gatekeepers of the Temple; d) (1 Chron. 3:5) father of Bathsheba, wife of David, mother of Solomon. In 1 Kings 11:3 [as given] he is called Eliam.
