Giants

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Gen 6:4) - persons of extraordinary height and strength who existed even before the mingling of the race of the sons of God with the sons of men and became especially numerous after that mingling. They oppressed and enslaved their brethren and by their manner of life spread impiety and corruption even among the descendants of Seth, so that God condemned the corrupted human race to destruction by the Flood (Gen 6:5-7). As may be seen from Holy Scripture (Deut 3:11; Num 13:33; 1 Sam 17:4), similarly tall people existed after the Flood; the source further regards this as confirmed by human skeletons and bones, found in the earth in its own day, which were much larger than ordinary. See Emim, Anakim, Rephaim.
