The Church is apostolic because she continuously preserves the apostles’ teaching and the succession of the gifts of the Holy Spirit through ordination. Christians are members of God’s household, built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the cornerstone (Eph. 2:19-20). They must therefore hold fast to apostolic tradition and turn away from teaching that contradicts it (2 Thess. 2:15; Titus 3:10).
