Avvites Evites

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(2 Kings 17:31) — inhabitants of the Assyrian city of Avva, resettled by Shalmaneser in the cities of Samaria. These settlers honored the Lord, but at the same time also served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from which they had been removed. The Avvites had their own gods, or idols: Nibhaz and Tartak.
