Duma
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(perhaps: silent, or silence): a) (Gen. 25:14) one of the sons of Ishmael; b) (Josh. 15:52) — a city in the tribe of Judah, not far from Hebron. A village called Duma still exists near Damascus, but this is not the place mentioned in the book of Joshua. Robinson identifies it with the present-day ruins of Ed-Daumeh in the province of Wadi Dilbeh, 9 versts southwest of Hebron; c) (Isa. 21:11) — a region in Arabia, also called Dumah, or one of the Ishmaelite tribes deriving its name from the city of Duma.
