Eldaah

(whom God knows) (Gen. 25:4; 1 Chron. 1:33) — youngest of the sons of Midian, son of Abraham by Keturah. In 1 Chronicles (7:20 [as given]) he is given as Eleadah. Eldad and Medad (God is a friend) (Num. 11:26, 27) — two of the seventy elders of Israel, appointed by Moses to assist him in governing the Hebrews in the wilderness. When the elders gathered around the Tabernacle to seek wisdom from God, Eldad and Medad, detained by some particular matter, remained in the camp; but the Spirit of God rested upon them, as upon the other elders, and they began to prophesy, though they were in the camp and not near the Tabernacle.
This was reported to Moses, and Joshua the son of Nun asked him to forbid them to prophesy, but Moses answered: “Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!” (Num. 11:29).
