Giddel

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(extremely great, giant, colossus) — the name of two men: a) (Ezra 2:47) of the Nethinim, who returned to Judea with Zerubbabel. In the parallel passage of 2 Esdras (5:30) he is called Pavua; b) (Ezra 2:51) of the number of Solomon’s servants, who returned to Judea together with the descendants of the preceding Giddel. In 2 Esdras (5:33) he is called Jedaiah [as given].
